Oxford Outcomes was founded in 1997 by Diane Wild, and specialised initially in patient reported outcomes (PRO) research. Paul Quarterman joined to take a lead on business development in 1998 and now holds the position of Managing Director. Since that time the company has built on its strong academic and professional links to become an international market leader in health economics, epidemiology, PRO research and PRO translation.
In 2004, after two years of successful strategic partnership, Oxford Outcomes took a significant expansion step by absorbing Occam Research and Consulting, a Vancouver-based health economics and epidemiology consultancy, led by Andrew Briggs and Adrian Levy. This expansion resulted in the company delivering a full range of services from offices in both Oxford and Vancouver. Thereafter, the company quickly established a reputation for practical consultancy, problem-solving and methodological innovation. The combined portfolio included health economic and epidemiological studies commissioned in Europe and North America by many pharmaceutical companies, device manufacturers and biotechs, as well as public agencies.
Since the merger, the company has strengthened its scientific, consultancy and administrative capacity by appointing new directors. In 2006 Brian Harrigan was appointed as Chief Operating Officer to lead Canadian operations. Mark Sculpher, who also holds a position of Professor of Health Economics at the University of York, became a Director of the company in 2005.
In 2006 Oxford Outcomes established its US office in Bethesda with the appointment of Kathy Beusterien as Director. The Company has since strengthened its position as a market leader with the appointment of Andrew Lloyd (patient reported outcomes), Neil Hawkins (health economics), David Scott (health economics) as Directors
The company continues to grow its resource base, services, and market share.
