Disease Epidemiology

Disease Epidemiology provides accurate, up-to-date, and region-specific estimates of the incidence, prevalence, morbidity, mortality and natural history of target conditions. These are critical components of investment appraisal, pricing decisions, economic appraisal and health technology assessment, provide decision makers with critical information about the current and potential future health care obligations.

Oxford Outcomes can develop disease Epidemiology studies utilizing our experience and understanding of how these studies impact other aspects of the development stages. We use a variety of techniques including prospective data collection with random or cluster sampling, or administrative data analysis to estimate these epidemiologic parameters.

We use a variety of techniques to estimate disease parameters, including:

  • Prospective and retrospective data collection – conducting field work through chart review, physician, patient or stakeholder interview, focus groups, advisory boards, surveys, and questionnaires, all with random or cluster sampling.
  • Administrative data analysis of databases and patient registries – which inform estimates of incidence, prevalence, morbidity, mortality and antural history of various diseases.

The Oxford Outcomes team has gained extensive experience in disease Epidemiology studies over the years. Clients commission our studies to gain insight into market size and market share, and to inform critical forecasting functions including pricing and economic models. At Oxford Outcomes we are able to offer disease Epidemiology as a stand-alone service or as part of a complete service package alongside our Health Economics and Patient Reported Outcomes services.
