Qualitative research
Oxford Outcomes has considerable expertise in qualitative research and we employ qualitative techniques either in stand-alone exploratory studies or as an integrated component in PRO instrument and utility measure development.
Our senior team is a market leader in qualitative research and has contributed to developing qualitative methods within PRO research. In support of this, we have a team of in-house qualitative analysts, experienced interviewers and focus group moderators working in most major languages.
Our Oxford Outcomes investigators group also includes a number of external consultants drawn for academia who can guide study design and methods as required.
The Oxford Outcomes approach to qualitative research encompasses a wide range of techniques designed to gain an in-depth understanding of thought processes, attitudes and behaviour. Our studies are often exploratory utilising data collected in one-to-one interviews, focus groups, Delphi panels and telephone interviews.
Oxford Outcomes also employs purposive sampling techniques, triangulation, and saturation processes to avoid bias in interpretation of findings and to ensure that concepts have been explored fully. Thematic analysis, content analysis, and Grounded theory approaches are all used where appropriate.
Within PRO research, we employ qualitative research methods in a number of research settings including:
- Concept exploration.
- Development of conceptual models.
- Development and adaptation of PRO instruments.
- PRO selection.
We also provide training in qualitative research and saturation methods to our clients.
