Translation and Linguistic Validation

For over a decade Oxford Outcomes has been a market leader in Translation and Linguistic Validation of Patient Reported Outcomes (PRO) measures. During this time our translation team has worked on the Translation and Linguistic Validation of several hundred PRO instruments, including many gold-standard measures such as the EQ-5D, the SF-36, and EORTC oncology modules. We have translated and validated over 80 target languages for use in Europe, Asia, North and South America, Australasia and Africa.

 

We have built experience of translating a wide spectrum of PRO measures including:

• Generic health status and disease-specific PRO measures.
• Utility elicitation and patient preference measures.
• Resource utilization and other health economic measures.
• Patient diaries, CRFs, protocols, patient information and consent forms.
• Clinician-reported outcome measures and clinical scales.

Oxford Outcomes is a prominent and active contributor to scientific and regulatory debates about the development, translation and validation of PRO measures. Most notably we have contributed to the creation of international standards and guidelines, and have taken leadership of the ISPOR Task Force on Translation and Linguistic Validation over several years. Our work complies with international regulatory requirements, in particular the FDA guidelines on translation and validation of PRO measures. Our team will provide certification and reports detailing the methodology used, that can be incorporated into submissions to ethics committees and regulatory authorities.
